Yes, we're still here!

Hey eveyone! Sorry it's been so long since we've updated. Our lives have been very busy with major events- adding a new addition- hence the namechange on the blog!, matching, moving, vacationing! Now that we're settled into our new city, I've got a planned day at the end of each month to update our blog- so hopefully there won't be four months between now and the next updates!

Anyway, these posts have been shortened since they happened so long ago- I'll do better next time!

And we miss you all Michigan friends!

Florida 2010

We went to Florida for five days with my family. Had a great time at the beach- Liam loved it this year! London spent most of her time inside, which is why we have only one picture of her!

We got to take Liam to Disney to meet Mickey Mouse-his hero. He had a blast on all of the rides, and was such a good boy!

Liam playing on the beach. I LOVE his swim outfit!

Meeting Mickey. He was SO excited to see him, but got a little shy when it was his turn. Then he cried when we left the tent.

Josh on the plane with both kids- they did great on the flights there AND back!

Moved!

We moved into our new place in Iowa in June. so far, we are loving it. The move was pretty uneventful- we had some WONDERFUL friends help load our moving truck to leave Michigan- I will miss you ALL so much!- it only took about an hour and a half with all the hands we had. We drove to Iowa, and unpacked- and then left for Florida with my family. Here are some pics:

You'll have to tilt your head to see this one. This time to the left. I wanted to share this painting that a friend of ours did for London- everything in the picture starts with the letter L. I love it!
London's girly, pink room, all to herself- yeah!

The city is great so far- we have been to the farmer's market and found the BEST local pizza place. Still lots of exploring to do, but now that we're all set up, maybe we'll actually get to do it!

Holland, MI

A few weeks after our long trip home, we went on a mini-vacation with our friends from med. school. It's funny how it happened. When we first met them 4 years ago, neither one of us had kids. We said when this med school journey was over, we would go on vacation together- maybe to Hawaii. Then came the boys. Their son was born 10 months before Liam. Our trip moved to Northern Michigan- still beautiful and fun, and just an 8 hour drive away. Then came the girls. Their daughter was born 5 months before London. we went to Holland, MI, which is a 3 hour drive from our house!

It was really a beautiful little place with a dutch heritage, Lake Michigan Beaches, and lots of fun things to do. We got a suite with two bedrooms so we could put our kids to bed early and hang out and play games and watch movies- yes, we are wild, wild people. But it was a blast!

Liam and Isaac going for a bike ride- Yes, Liam is wearing a pink helmet. It's mine- his didnt fit him anymore.
Josh and the boys with the bike trailer. That's "Big Red", the lighthouse.

Liam in his super cute diaper playing in the sand on the beach.

You'll have to tilt your head to the right to see this one. A little further...there you go. Sorry. I can't upload vertical pics tonight for some reason, but I wanted to share this one anyway. That's a giant working dutch windmill- they make flour with it.

Trip Home

When London was 5 weeks old, we took off and went home, so she could meet some extended family. We drove from Michigan to my mom and dad's house in Carbondale, to Josh's mom and dad's house in Senath, to Josh's sister's house in Cuba, to Iowa City to find a place to live. It was 22 hours of drive time with a two year old and a 5 week old (who, by the way, hated her carseat at that time). What were we THINKING?! It turned out to be okay though- it was nice to see everyone. We didn't take many pics though, because I am so bad about remembering to get the camera out!

Josh Matched!!!

Just a few days after the arrival of baby London, we got some more great news. Josh matched into a neurology residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. It's a great program at a big ten university (the hospital is 2nd largest in the country, or something like that), and it's in a great city- we couldn't ask for more! Oh, AND it puts us 3 hours closer to home- it's just a 4.5 hour drive from St. Louis!

London Faith

London was born at 9:00 a.m on March 12th after a very short labor (my first contraction was at 2 a.m. and by 9 we had our baby girl!)- much different that my 22 hour labor with Liam. She was 9lbs, 7 oz.- the doctors kept checking both of our blood sugars because she was so big- they were convinced that I had to have gestational diabetes, but this was not the case- she was just fluffy :0) Actually, she was 22 inches long so she didn't look fluffy at all.

Liam was not allowed in the hospital to see her since it was flu season and there was the big H1N1 scare- so we left the very next day so we could let him meet his new baby sister. He didn't even care at first- I think he thought maybe we were babysitting and her mom would be here to get her anytime. Once he figured out she was staying, he would start running up to her in the middle of whatever he was doing and say "hi baby!" and go back to whatever it was. Now that she has been around for 3 and a half months, he likes to kiss her, and shake her bottles, and "help me" give her a bath. He's a great big brother for sure!

She is a good baby- now :) The first three weeks were rough, and we were sure that she had colic, because she cried ALL the time. If she did, then it went away really quickly, because one day she just quit. She started sleeping through the night at 4 weeks- yeah! and now sleeps 12 hours each night. She is very advanced (ha ha!) and rolled over at just 11 weeks old. I think that means she's going to be trouble!

These pics were taken by my cousin- London was 5 weeks old here, but since I waited so long to update the blog, they are some of my favorites!
